First Card of 2020

January is the perfect time to stock up on craft supplies, there are so many sales and deals everywhere! This weekend I picked up the Docrafts Papermania Modern Deco 12" x 12" Paper Pad in The Range craft sale, I had always the paper pad but for some reason I never took the plunge to buy it.

I am so glad I have brought it now, the patterns are absolutely gorgeous, it has all the glitz & glamour you would expect from paper based on the 1920's. Papermania's Modern Deco collection showcases lavish shades of silver and gold, mixed with  teal, navy, coral and grey. The paper pads also boast a marvellous selection designs featuring swanky rose gold foiling!

This 1920's theme paper pad seemed the perfect patterned paper to use for my first card of 2020.

To create this glitzy card I started by picking the perfect background pattern, the silver scallop design I picked is full of glamour and the perfect backdrop, I decided to team it with the striking black and gold pattern and a pretty pink pattern to add a touch of colour.

To make this card you will need

  • 5" x 7" card blank
  • Docrafts Papermania Modern Deco Paper
  • Ribbon & toppers to finish
  • Craft foam
  • Double sided tape
  • Scissors
  1. Firstly cut a 5" x 7" rectangle from your chosen background paper
  2. Cut a 1" x 7" rectangle from a different patterned paper and stick this on to the background paper with double sided tape
  3. Cut a 5" x 4" rectangle from another paper and stick down with card
  4. Finish your card with ribbon and embellishments

What was your first card of 2020?

DIY Bloom & Wonder Ideas Notebook

If you are anything like me then you will always get the greatest craft inspiration when you have no way of noting it down! I always tend to get sparks of inspiration for card making and crafting at random times, and I always forget them. To try and conquer this I decided to make myself an Ideas notebook, a small notebook that will fit in my handbag to allow me to write down these random craft ideas, making sure I don't forget them (though I may look at them later and wonder what the hell I was thinking). After a quick look through the Cricut Design Space I found a notebook shape that looked perfect, small size and easy to remove and add more pages. I decided to make the notebook using the First Edition Bloom & Wonder paper pad I had recently received from Trimcraft, it is gorgeous and I love just flicking through the paper pad so thought it might make a good inspiration sparker. My favourite part of Halloween is the sweets, I have a massive sweet tooth, so with the Emma Jewell Crafts October box I decided to make some Halloween treat bags!
